IT MAY have been all about the Modern World when From The Jam came to Cleethorpes, but most of their fans were reliving past memories.
Performing at the resort's leisure centre to more than 100 people, the band included original Jam bassist Bruce Foxton, along with Russell Hastings on lead vocal and guitar, and Mark Brzezicki on drums.
Getting to hear track after track of The Jam’s classic back catalogue, played at full volume and played as spot on as when the band was topping the charts, is many an aging Mod’s dream.
Don’t let the name fool you, it may sound like your typical tribute band cashing in on former glories of a group that no longer tours but From The Jam are hardly a tribute act. With Bruce Foxton powering through chords and riffs that made him and the rest of the Jam one of the top acts of their day this in no way called a tribute act.
What Paul Weller didn't deliver the night before at Portsmouth's Guildhall, Bognor Regis' Russell Hastings delivered in spades at the Pyramids Centre – an hour and a half of the crashing brilliance of The Jam.
